The focus of our research: We are interested in the molecular mechanisms, which contribute to modulate neuronal activity and behaviour. In particular, we are interested in the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is emerging as one of the most important neuronal modulator in the brain. The involvement of the ECS in many brain functions, such as the regulation of food intake and energy balance, of fear responses, of memory and the control of neuronal excitability.

Research projects:
Our research project aims at understanding the molecular basis of behavioural adaptation. Our everyday behaviour are constantly adapted to environmental changes, resulting in proper responses to different challenges. The endocannabinoid system is strategically fitted to provide this important function in the brain and in the body.
